ERCorArt Butterfly Pea Flower Powder is a finely ground, all‑natural blue tea powder that colors drinks and recipes blue or purple and dissolves easily for culinary and beverage use.
This 85 g (3 oz) jar contains pure butterfly pea flower powder made from freshly ground petals with no additives, preservatives, sugar, gluten, or soy. It’s designed for home cooks, bartenders, bakers, and food creators who want a vibrant natural colorant and mild floral flavor that shifts color with pH changes. Use small amounts to tint teas, lattes, cocktails, smoothies, ice creams, baked goods, and more while enjoying clean-label ingredients and consistent, clump-free mixing.
How much powder should I use to color drinks and recipes?
Dosage depends on the intensity you want. Start with a small pinch or 1/2 teaspoon for beverages and increase for bolder hues in thicker or dairy-based recipes. For baked items, use 1–3 teaspoons depending on batter volume and desired saturation.
- Drinks: about 1/2 teaspoon per cup (adjust to taste)
- Smoothies/cocktails: 1/2–1 teaspoon for visible color
- Baked goods: 1–3 teaspoons per recipe, mixed into wet ingredients
- Ice cream/popsicles: blend thoroughly for even coloration
What color changes can I expect and why does it shift?
The powder releases a vivid blue in neutral or slightly alkaline liquids and shifts to purple or magenta when exposed to acids like lemon or lime. This pH-sensitive color change is a natural property of butterfly pea flower pigments, making it great for interactive drinks and dishes.
- Blue: in water, milk alternatives, or alkaline mixes
- Purple: add citrus, vinegar, or other acidic ingredients
- Layering: combine with acidic mixers to create two-tone beverages
- Creative pairings: lemon, lime, or cream for dramatic effect
How do I mix the powder so it dissolves smoothly without clumps?
ERCorArt’s powder is finely milled to minimize clumping and speed dissolution. For best results, whisk into a small amount of warm liquid to make a concentrated slurry, then fold into the rest of your recipe or beverage. For cold drinks, shake vigorously in a cocktail shaker or blend briefly to distribute evenly.
- Warm slurry: dissolve in hot water or milk, then cool as needed
- Cold mixing: use a shaker or blender to avoid pockets of powder
- Baking: incorporate into wet ingredients for even color spread
- Storage tip: keep container tightly sealed and dry to retain texture
